So this is a sort of experimental beauty blog post. I really enjoyed writing and sharing the ‘My Boyfriend Chose My Makeup’post I did and decided to try out other fun sort of makeup challenges.
I have found myself in the past a little bit obsessed with wish. It’s basically an app/website that sells super cheap products as they don’t come from the UK. During university me and my house mates got so obsessed with this website – they sell so much random stuff which makes it such an exciting website.
You’ve probably seen a lot of posts/videos about Hauls from wish from bloggers and youtubers. Some I’ve seen are for clothes and others make up. Anyway I thought this would be a really fun post to do. I decided to spend £20 on makeup at wish and see what I ended up with.
This is my finished look which I have to admit is pretty awful. None of the makeup blended particularly well especially the eye shadows and I ended up resembling a raccoon.
The eye shadows were super chalky and had barely any colour pay off. Some of the shades seemed like they weren’t at all pigmented and barely showed up when I tried them.
This liquid highlight (bottom middle) is a clear knock off of benefit as you can see from their packaging. In some of the pictures it doesn’t look too bad when applied to the face and it did give me a bit of a highlight but it did make me feel like I had a thick mask on.
This was meant to be the concealer palette (bottom right) which arrived looking a lot smaller than I thought it was going to be. (It was literally tiny). I tried to mix some of these shades together to make a base but it didn’t really work – it sort of just sat on top of my skin and made my skin feel super heavy. I wanted to wipe it off as soon as I’d applied it.
The eyelashes weren’t too bad in terms of how they looked – they were long and full which I liked the look of when applied to my face however they weren’t the most comfortable lash to wear. They dug into the corner of my eye and felt super itchy to wear (no surprises aye).
The lipstick was actually a pretty nice shade (they literally send you a random shade) but it took all the moisture out of my lips. Even trying to get this off was hard as it just clung to my lips. I had to put so much Vaseline on my lips after to stop the dryness. I’m pretty sure it says long lasting as it just glues itself to your lips.
The brushes weren’t actually bad, I’ve found some of them are good for blending and actually feel soft to touch (I was super surprised with these).
The last thing I ordered was a nail art pen which did absolutely nothing. I tried to use it and it was literally just a dried up pen with a really hard nib – not too sure what was supposed to happen but can’t say I’m surprised.
All in all I can’t say that wish surprised me, was secretly hoping maybe I’d find a new favourite but ah well. If anything I think I just learnt it’s best to stick to what you know. When I was removing this makeup all I could think about was how I didn’t know what was in this product or where it came from (freaked me out, I must say). I’ll definitely be sticking to more reliable places to buy my makeup but this was a fun experiment to do.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post.
I’d love to hear what you think – have you ever bought anything from Wish before? What did you think about it?
