My 80s look inspired by Cyndi Lauper

This Saturday was my stepdad’s 60th birthday Party and to celebrate he hosted a 70’s and 80’s party, for anyone that knows me, you’ll know that fancy dress is my jam. There is nothing I don’t love about it and I will always go all out to make sure I have my costume looking perfect. At first I couldn’t really decide what to go as but then I came across a picture of Cyndi Lauper in the 80’s and instantly decided that’s what i’d base my costume off.

I was so lucky that on the day I was going costume shopping there was a kilo sale going on in the church around the corner. (A kilo sale is somewhere that sells vintage clothes by the kilo, so it’s like £15 and you can have as many clothes weigh a kilo for that price). I got my dress and jacket in the kilo sale and was pretty much sorted for everything else, I bought my beads in a fancy dress shop for £1 and then had everything else at home already (yay).

For my hair I decided that the best option was to plait my hair when it was wet and leave it for  a few hours and when I took it out it was a crazy frizzy mess. I also sprayed a little red hair spray in there just to add to the craziness.

I knew I wanted my make up to be very bright and bold (which as you can see it is very bold). I used my Urban Decay full spectrum palette to create this look. I used the shades Calavera, Jones, Gossip and Sketch.

I used my NYX vivid brights in ‘sapphire’ to create the bright eyeliner wing. I then used NYX liquid suede in ‘amethyst’ and blended it with a matte pink liquid lipstick to create the lip look.

I don’t have a photo but I then finished off the look with over dramatic blusher in a bright pink colour.

I hope you enjoyed this post.

I’m sorry the pictures aren’t the best, i’m still trying to perfect my make-up photo face, I still end up looking like lil miss awkys when I try and take these pictures.

Would love to hear what you think about this look. How do you feel about bright make up looks? Any favourite products that you love when making a bold look?

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
