It feels like forever ago since I did my last Movie Magic post. Last month’s post was a little early with Christmas and everything which was the same as my pay (which is why I’m broke as fuuuuck). You can check out Decembers post here.
There were so may films that I was looking forward to watching in January, I didn’t quite get to see as many as I wanted as January seemed to end up a little hectic and just fly by. Anyway I can’t wait to share with you my thoughts on this month’s picks.
Hope you enjoy the post.
Pitch Perfect 3
I completely forgot that I’d even seen this film to be honest. Have to say it wasn’t as good as the previous two films at all. It was just a bit all over the place and some of it just seemed super forced which was really disappointing. I’m such a big Pitch Perfect fan, I just felt a little let down watching this one. Parts of it were funny but overall I just felt the story line was a bit weak.
The Greatest Showman
This came out on Boxing day and I couldn’t wait to see this film. I didn’t know it was a musical until it started but I absolutely loved it. I loved it so much I wrote a whole post on it, if you want to check it out then you can here.
The Darkest Hour
Gary Oldman was absolutely amazing. You literally wouldn’t even know it was him by looking at him, the costume and make-up was incredible. His acting was superb. I would have enjoyed this more I think if I hadn’t seen the trailer for it so many times (think this is the case with most films nowadays). Definitely a film worth seeing, I felt like I learnt something after watching this film which I always love.
Jumanji : Welcome To The Jungle
Feel kinda embarrassed to say I’ve still not seen the original all the way through (was always just seeing parts of it on TV). I was in two minds about going to see Jumanji but I’m so glad I did. It was so much better than I thought it was going to be – it was actually so so funny (I was laughing so loud and probably being hella annoying). The film had me in hysterics throughout, was a very easy to watch film that kept you interested throughout the film.
It was such a cute film, I really enjoyed it. Such a visually appealing film as well, just looked so amazing on screen. The songs were really sweet and I have to admit it did make me feel a bit emotional. Definitely worth watching, very enjoyable.
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri
The premise of this film is kinda fucked up but the cast and the story line was amazing. There was a lot of comedy (some dark) and some action but the cast is absolutely amazing. Sam Rockwell was great with his usual slightly crazy comedy style. I totally fell in love with Frances McDormand as well, she was brilliant and the character she played was so funny. Something that’s a bit different from the norm but definitely worth seeing.
MOVIES I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH.
Maze Runner: Death Cure (I read the books years ago and just can’t wait to see how it’s done on screen)
Early Man (Nick Parks aka director of Chicken Run?! Sign me up!!)
Have you seen any of these movies? Or did you want to? Would absolutely love to hear your thoughts or any movies your looking forward to next month.
