I thought that a fun way to end 2017 would be with a blogger collaboration. This post is about our favourite beauty and skin care products from this year as well as a New Years Resolution that we have for the future.
Thank you so much to all the bloggers that took part in this collaboration, I really appreciate it. This is my first ever Collaboration so I am super excited about this post.
Grace (Me) – That Feeling Inside
I found it so hard to chose my favourite product as this is the first year I found myself buying a lot of makeup. The Sweet Peach Palette by Too Faced is definitely one of my favourites as it’s a product I find myself reaching for most days. This was the year that I really fell in love with my beauty blender as well. For skincare my favourite product has to be L’oreal’s Hydra Genius Aloe Water, I love how light weight and refreshing it feels.
My New Years Resolution is to believe in myself a little more, try and take a few more risks and attempt to block out my negative thoughts.
Emma – The Emma Edit
When it comes to beauty and makeup products, I like to stick to mostly what I know and love. My newest favourite skincare product is a Liz Earle moisturiser; I can see it becoming a staple in my skincare routine. One makeup product that has been reappearing in my makeup bag the whole of 2017 is the Benefit Roller Lash mascara. Other holy grail products I love includes: Garnier Micellar Water, Clean & Clear Cleansing Lotion, Gosh Foundation and Illasmasque Liquid Eyeliner. One of my New Years resolutions regarding my blog is to engage with more bloggers, and to comment on more blog posts. Here’s to 2018!
Lindsey – Sarcastic Bohemian
So 2017 has been an interesting year. For me, 2017 has been strange and inconsistent. But one thing remains the same, I got my beauty products! This year has given me some of my FAVORITE cosmetics. NYX liquid eyeliner: this liquid eyeliner is fantastic. I used to never wear liquid eyeliner. As they were too difficult to handle. But this eyeliner goes on smooth and easily. It is easy to take off too and the brush is controllable. I can finally learn winged liner. BlackHeart lipstick: Love this lipstick. It is smooth and applies easily. It isn’t drying (which an issue for me). The color is very vibrant. They also have great long-lasting nail polish. Wet n’ Wild Contour/Highlight palette: This is my absolute favorite contour palette. The color is perfect and blends really well. It’s easy to apply. I’m not a fan of the highlight as it is too white, but that isn’t too much of an issue for me. The palette is also really well priced. Well, those are my favorite products. Hopefully, 2018 will help me find even more beauty products to love and you too. I am also hoping 2018 brings more for my life. One New Year’s Resolution for me is to keep working hard. Hard enough to see my goals and dreams begin to become true. Here is to 2018 hopefully being the best year yet!
Lynsey – The Cat Mother Chronicles
So Grace kindly asked if I’d do a piece for her blog and of course, I happily and excitedly said yes! Here are some of my favourite make up and beauty products I’ve found this year: Superdrug’s own Deep Action Cleansing Lotion – this is probably my top product for the year. It literally works wonders on my pores and spots, and sits well under make up. Style Freedom Rejuvenating Vitamin Oil – the state of my hair was a little worse for where at the start of the year. From all the bleaching and colouring, it had become super brittle and dry. But this beauty has completely transformed it, and now my hair is soft, shiny and healthy. Deep Heat Foam Bath – this is an actual god send for aching muscles and joints. After a long day in work, a bath in this feels like heaven. My New Years’ resolution would have to be: Believe more in myself and to know that you can get anything in life if you work hard enough for it. Janelle – The Nelly Bean
I’ve been loving the Dr. PawPaw Multipurpose Soothing Balm this year. It was a pretty recent discovery as I’m usually a Vaseline girl, but this stuff is wonderful. It works wonderfully for the dry corners of my lips and when I’m having particularly frizzy hair days and can’t find my argan oil. The bright yellow colour doesn’t hurt either – it’s so cheerful and I love that! The one makeup item I’ve really enjoyed this year is the NYX Lip Lingerie in Exotic. I’ve plastered it all over my blog already (not sponsored, promise) but it’s so good. Great texture and colour, doesn’t transfer, and it lasted me all night long amidst drinks and lots of sweat. And doesn’t make a dent in your purse. New Year’s Resolution: To let go. *Cue Idina Menzel… In all seriousness, I’ve always had trouble letting go as a person and my own inhibitions tend to get the best of me. I’ve been learning to deal with this little by little, but I want to turn those baby steps into ballerina style leaps. Here’s to saying yes to more things and making more mistakes!
Kerry – Kerry, Life and Loves
Thank you so much Grace for including me in your post. It was so hard for me to choose favourite products of the year, as I have loved so many! Anyway, I got there in the end.
My favourite makeup product of the year is the Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in Very Victoria. I just love it. The colour , a browny/pinky nude, is a colour that just suits my pale skin, and seems to go with whatever make up look I am wearing. The formulation is comfortable and non-drying, which is a big thing for me as my lips tend to constantly dry out!
My skincare discovery that I have loved this year is the Cranberry and Tumeric masque from Kiehls. I was so surprised how much I love this product. Its called a radiance masque, and that is really what it does. It leaves my skin looking radiant and glowing. I even feel I can go a few days with no foundation after I use this. I love it!
I don’t tend to make New years resolutions, but I do set goals and plans. One that I am determined to do this year is be kinder to myself. I am constantly beating myself up about the things I haven’t got done, or the weight I have put on, etc. I have had a stressful year this year, and I realised that I felt pressure to be all things to all people. I had to be the one coping and maintaining order, when sometimes, you don’t! Its ok to say actually, I’m not coping that well and I need a breather. I am going to allow myself time out occasionally to read, or window shop, or just binge watch box sets, and not feel guilty! That is my aim this year, be more gentle with myself.
Lise – Lushtivity
Favourite make up product
I heart makeup – Death By Chocolate palette
This is a wonderful palette with a good variety of shades, finishes and it feels so nice on the eyes! The shades blend really well, and for once the shimmers have more pigment than the mattes but they are still good and buildable. I love doing looks with the purple and gold shades and this has very quickly become my absolute favorite palette. It helps a lot that it has a faint chocolate-y scent too. It’s not overpowering at all and it gets even better when you swatch or apply the eye shadows.
Favourite skincare product
L’Oreal – Pure Clay Illuminating cleansing gel
This gel cleanser pretty much has the same properties as the Glow mask from L’Oreal and I enjoy using this way more. Clay masks can be a pain to remove and this cleanser is way easier to use. I just mix a few drops of water with it and apply it to my face, leaving it on for a few minutes to let the clays work before rinsing it off. It leaves my skin feeling so good and I don’t ever want to stop using it. I don’t cleanse with it every day, but I use it at least every other day for optimal results. My skin gets less oily after I started using it regularly too so that is a big plus.
A new years resolution
I want to be better at saying yes to things. I always say no because my anxiety completely takes over and makes me scared of every little thing. Whether it’s just going to the mall, going to work or going to see a friend, my anxiety fucks everything up a lot. It doesn’t happen as often as it used to but every now and then I’m pretty much paralysed by fear and I need to get over it and be able to say yes again. That is my New Years resolution and I sure hope I can keep it. My anxiety had gotten a lot better earlier this year but something happened and it’s back in full force, I have no idea what it was but it must have been bad.
Miriam – Simply Miriam
I’ve been loving this Vera Wang “Princess” perfume that I was gifted this Christmas. I know it’s kinda old news but the scent is so me, I love anything floral or sweet. And this perfume definitely does it for me. The bottle is just a plus it’s such a pretty bottle.
I actually got this Garnier Fructis 1 minute hair mask in the mail from influenster to try out and review, and so far I’ve been loving it. It leaves my hair so soft and smelling wonderful.
These two mascaras are two of my holy grails! And you kinda tell because look at the one on the right lol the lettering is fading away. The “falsies push up drama” by Maybelline really does the job the wand is amazing this is the one that really separates my lashes. The Essence “Get BIG lashes” kinda does the opposite it kinda makes them a little clumpy but if I mix them, the finish look is amazing.
So when it comes to foundation I have to very careful, I tend to break out really easily and honestly don’t really use foundation all that often. I used L’Oreal True Match for a couple of years actually but every time I would apply it by the end of the day I would have bumps all over my cheek and jaw area. So I kinda stop using foundation all around, but I grabbed this wet n wild foundation when my family and I were out on a trip. And I have to say this is like the best foundation ever! I’ve used it more than once in a week and I have not once seen pimples or bumps on my face. It’s very affordable and it gets the job done so this is definitely one of my favourites.
This blog post ended up being a pretty long one I know but I thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with all these fabulous bloggers. Reflecting back on our favourites this year and thinking about our resolutions for 2018 is a great way to end the year I think.
