So this is the beginning of my scary movie fest (ooh). Have to say that I was freaking out a bit about doing this – I’m expecting a lot of sleep-less nights and squealing throughout the movies.
I thought for the first film I’d start off with something I didn’t think would be too scary but still a classic. I went for Scream (1996) as it’s a big film that has inspired other films.
The film did have some creepy parts – mostly ghost face’s voice talking on the phone was what creeped me out. The voice changer just made everything the killer had to say even more creepy – stuff like that really freaks me out and the whole ‘someone’s in your house thing’. The film itself is pretty cheesy in general and is a movie based around a group of teenagers with some comedy elements to lighten the mood a little. There was a lot of horror movie clichés that were sort of parodied in this film which I actually really liked.
Scare Factor : 4/10
I surprisingly liked this film a lot more than I thought I was going to. It’s not too heavy in terms of trying to be really scary but still has parts that are creepy and very entertaining to watch. Not too sure if I’ll watch the endless sequels though – sure they probably get a bit samey.
Also of topic but do you ever see/write a word so much that it starts to look weird – this post made me start to question whether or not I was spelling scream right.
Have you seen Scream before? What did you think?
Tomorrow’s post will be about a family friendly Halloweeny movie so come back tomorrow to check that out.
