So recently I went to a cocktail masterclass at Revolution in Birmingham, I met up with some friends and we had a great time. The masterclass itself is a very reasonable price and they offer a few packages that you can choose from. We went for the masterclass with party nibbles that was £30.00 per person. We went in a group of 6 (usually they ask for groups of 8+ but because we went on a weekday they were okay with us having a smaller group).
One member of our group was a little late so she was presented a chilli vodka shot when she arrived (think she had to have 4 in the end for different penalties). This was great fun though and meant that we all got really into the challenges to avoid the dreaded vodka chilli shots.
When we arrived we were given a Bubblegum Daiquiri each which came in a see-through plastic Starbucks like cup, the drink itself was very sweet but I prefer sweeter cocktails, the drink was sort of like an alcoholic slushy which was really tasty and easy to drink. It came with some flying saucer sweets on top which was really cute and reminded me of being younger.
The masterclass was sort of split into two parts, one part was based on just making the cocktails and the second part you were put into teams and would do challenges against each other.
For the first part, you’d go up in groups of two and follow the bartenders instructions to make 3 different cocktails. This was great fun and got you used to making some of the cocktails and using some of the techniques you would use after for the games. For each cocktail we made we got 3 to share between us (two made by people of the group and one by the bartender).
Next there were 3 games that we played in teams against each other, these were really fun and brought my competitive edge out. One of the games required 2 members of each team and focused on one person having their eyes closed whilst the other person had to guide their hands to make the cocktail. The winner was chosen based on who id it fastest and which tasted the best. The team that lost a challenge had to do a shot of chilli oil (luckily I won both challenges I did so I didn’t have to do one yay).
At the end there was a fun surprise at the end where one member of the group got to set off the shot train as the shots fell into the glasses. It was such a cool display and a lot of fun for one of the team to do.
I was surprised with how much ‘party nibbles’ we actually got, the food came out on a large platter and there was a lot of selection. The food was great for sharing and was very tasty.
Overall I really enjoyed this cocktail masterclass and would recommend it to anyone that’s thinking of having a party or just wants a fun night out. The price is very reasonable and with different packages options there’s a lot of choice. It was so much fun and our bartender that was leading the masterclass was great and gave us all an amazing time.
Also i’m sorry for the lack of pictures, I meant to take more of the cocktails but got too into the masterclass.
I’d love to hear what you think. Have you ever done anything like this before? Would you be interested in taking part in something like this?
